Award "Sustainable Partnerships" for the LIFE Elia-RTE project
The LIFE Elia-RTE project just won one of the two "Sustainable Partnerships" award attributed by The Shift in the framework of a Belgian competition (see video).
This award was received this May 24th 2016 by the LIFE team and Elia, as a reflection of the partnership between the transmission system operator and the two NGOs Solon and Carah.
The Shift : towards a more sustainable society and economy
The Shift is the meeting point of sustainable development in Belgium. With its members (347 in total) and its partners, The Shift wants to accompany the transition to a more sustainable society and economy. Several actions are possible for organizations wishing to embark on such durable partnerships.
Sustainable partnerships for major project
The social acceptability related to electricity transmission business has become a key element in Europe. Where Electricity Transmission System Operators have to renovate existing lines or create new ones, the solutions offered by the LIFE Elia-RTE allow them to consider a global approach to the territory in which integrates these projects: environment, local stakeholders and economic issues.
To integrate these three aspects, the development of sustainable partnerships with local stakeholders has become essential.
A Belgian competition !
A total of 50 applications were submitted in this contest!
The jury underlined the scope and quality of LIFE Elia-RTE project, also stressing the potential of this project if it extends to the entire network of the Belgian and French territories, or even at European level.
