DG Energy : presentation of the LIFE Elia-RTE project

On June 7th 2017, the LIFE Elia-RTE team was asked to present the LIFE Elia-RTE project in Brussels during the Electricity Cross-Regional Group and Regional Group meeting organized by the DG Energy.

Around 120 participants from all Europe gathered in Brussels for this Regional Group meeting. People were mostly from Transmission System Operators companies but also from Administration, Governments or Consultancy offices.

The meeting was mainly about Project of Common Interest. Projects of common interest (PCIs) are key infrastructure projects, especially cross-border projects, that link the energy systems of EU countries. They are intended to help the EU achieve its energy policy and climate objectives: affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens, and the long-term decarbonisation of the economy in accordance with the Paris Agreement. Every two years, the European Commission draws up a new list of PCIs.

The presentation of the LIFE Elia-RTE was focusing on key points :

  • Objectives
  • Methodology
  • Results (biological and financial)
  • Impacts on Public acceptance
