LIFE Elia at ILCN first congress in Berlin
LIFE Elia team was invited by the International Land Conservation Network (ILCN) to present the LIFE project during a conference that took place in Berlin on October 19th, 20th and 21st.
The ILCN
The International Land Conservation Network is connecting organizations and people who are accelerating voluntary private protection and stewardship of land and water resources. Among others, its mission are training and improving knowledge-sharing and information.
The first congress of the ILCN
At the Congress, speakers explored financial, legal and organizational strategies that facilitate the creation and stewardship of privately protected lands across a range of geographies and settings.
Coming from all over the world, people attending were representing land conservation organizations both large and small, from global NGOs to local volunteer initiatives.
LIFE Elia presentation
The team had the opportunity to present the project in the following cluster "The business of conservation: companies fostering biodiversity". The objective was to present how major private companies could take part of nature conservation. This example was highlighted by many participants for its ability to be replicated in many countries. Is was also a good opportunity to demonstrate the value of the LIFE program tool set up by the EU : testing innovative projects for nature and biodiversity to be implemented in other European Member States.
